Before moving into Hope Street Homes, my biggest concern was finding a safe and stable place for my 8-year-old son and me. After coming from a shelter, all I wanted was a home where we could finally feel secure and start rebuilding our lives. As a single mom, that meant everything to me. What has surprised me the most about renting from Hope Street Homes is how supported I've felt. From the very beginning, I felt like I was treated with kindness and respect instead of being judged for where I came from. That made a huge difference during such an important time in our lives. Maintenance and communication have been wonderful. Whenever I've had a question or needed something fixed, the team has responded quickly and kept me informed. They gave my son and me more than just a house—they gave us a fresh start. They helped us move from surviving to finally feeling like we could breathe again. Living here means everything to us. One of the most emotional moments for me was being able to give my son his very own bedroom. After everything we'd been through, seeing his excitement when he realized he had a space that was truly his brought tears to my eyes. As a mom, there's no better feeling than being able to give your child a place where they feel safe, comfortable, and loved. This home has given us stability, peace, and hope for the future. I have the peace of mind of knowing we're safe and have a stable home to build our future, having a place to call our own is something I never take for granted. When I first started working with the Hope Street Homes team, we were in a shelter. I was concerned about being treated with respect, but over all as a person. After we met the team that we were going to be working with to find us a home, I quickly realized that I wouldn’t have to worry about being seen as a person and being treated with the respect people deserve no matter where you come from or your situation. From, the beginning they kept in touch with the progress of the home we chose from beginning to move-in date. No matter how big or small the concerns are everyone on the Hope Street Homes team is respectful. Every time I need to communicate with someone on their team whether it through text message or phone everyone experience is enjoyable and respectful.
